In the "test mode", the instrument identifies acupuncture meridian points using electrodermal testing and quantises the energy with the sensitive digital meter (0-1000) and an internal audio oscillator. In the "treat mode", the gold-plated probe treats with microcurrent, the intensity of which is controllable from 0 to 2000 microamperes (2 mA). Simultaneous pulsed light is emitted from the probe.
